The August HomeNE Learning Network webinar featured Judy Clark, Development Director for the City of North Platte, who provided an in-depth overview of North Platte's MicroTIF program. Participants learned how MicroTIF supports smaller-scale redevelopment projects in blighted and substandard areas through property tax rebates, offering an alternative financing tool for projects that do not qualify for traditional Tax Increment Financing. Judy reviewed eligibility requirements, application processes, project thresholds, and implementation steps, while sharing North Platte’s successful experience using MicroTIF to revitalize properties, including the redevelopment of a former grocery store into mixed-use commercial and residential space. The session also highlighted the importance of community education and local planning to maximize the program’s benefits and support economic development efforts across Nebraska communities.
